A list of products that qualify for the 2025 sales tax holidays in a few U.S. states—Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia—was recently added to Apple's website.
The precise dates for each state and other information are listed on Apple's website. The tax-free holidays will take place from late July to early August.
Sales tax holidays offer a brief chance to buy specific Apple products in-store or online without having to pay sales tax. According to Apple, tax savings will show up on the final transaction even if they don't show up at checkout.
jurisdictions have different requirements for which Apple items qualify for the tax-free holidays, and some jurisdictions have price caps. Although Macs, iPads, and associated accessories are the most frequently qualifying devices, certain jurisdictions also allow the iPhone and Apple Vision Pro, and some states permit any item up to a specific price cap.
Students particularly benefit from sales tax holidays because they can combine the tax savings with Apple's ongoing Back to School deal, which gives students a free or reduced accessory, such as AirPods 4, when they buy an eligible Mac or iPad.
