Samsung formally unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold7, their newest foldable smartphone, with some much-awaited design tweaks, at the special Galaxy Unpacked event. The device had been leaked in complete details the day before the presentation. In addition to having better screens and cameras, the most recent model is noticeably slimmer than its predecessors.
For Samsung's primary foldable device this year, size and weight are major areas for improvement. With a folded size of 8.9 mm and an unfolded size of 4.2 mm, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is now much thinner. Additionally, it weighs less than the non-foldable Galaxy S25 Ultra at 215 grams. Samsung made improvements to the phone's hinge, making it lighter, thinner, and more resilient.
With a new 21:9 aspect ratio, Samsung also enlarged the cover display to 6.5 inches. Under strong sunlight, the primary display's brightness can reach an astounding 2,600 nits peak with Vision Booster, and it is 11% larger than the Galaxy Z Fold6's. Additionally, a titanium plate layer and thicker ultra-thin glass make the interior display stronger.
A bigger front-facing camera on the main screen, a 200MP wide-angle camera for more details, and a revised ProVisual Engine for quicker picture processing have all been added to the camera system.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, which powers the Galaxy Z Fold7, offers performance gains of 41% in NPU, 38% in CPU, and 26% in GPU. The smartphone comes pre-installed with One UI 8, which is based on Android 16. It now has a 4,400 mAh twin battery, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage, and up to 16GB of RAM (12GB in the base version).
