If you have a lot of money invested in Google's ecosystem, Google Drive is a good option for cloud storage. You've most likely used Google Drive to store your emails, WhatsApp backups, and media files if you have an Android phone. Although Google just revealed a much smaller feature today, the desktop sync client for Drive received a UI makeover just a few weeks ago, and it's undoubtedly very useful.
Thumbnail previews are now available for Google Drive videos. This implies that if you hover your cursor over the progress bar of a video, you'll see a thumbnail for that time period, just like YouTube. Additionally, you will be able to scrub around the movie while viewing thumbnail previews, just like on YouTube, by dragging your pointer (or finger, depending on your input mechanism).
It feels long overdue and is a very helpful capability. You can now use thumbnail previews to navigate through a video and find the desired frame when attempting to locate a specific scene. This eliminates the need to estimate the approximate time.
However, there's a significant catch. Only recently uploaded content in Google Drive videos can be seen in thumbnail previews. The videos that are currently in your Drive library cannot be used with this feature. You probably have hundreds, if not thousands, of videos in your library if you use Drive regularly or have enabled automatic backups to Drive via your Android phone. Nevertheless, none of them include a mechanism to activate thumbnail previews.
Over the course of the next few days, this feature will be rolled out to all Google Workspace users, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google accounts. Google Workspace administrators are unable to turn off the feature on their end.
