Disney's ESPN presently owns the rights to broadcast Formula 1 in the US. Sources with knowledge of the talks said that Disney is not willing to equal or surpass Apple's offer. For its present rights, it pays about $85 million annually, which is slightly more than half of Apple's most recent offer.

According to reports, interest from other potential suitors, like Netflix, was also "muted," making Apple the top bidder for the rights to broadcast the races in Canada. Therefore, in addition to Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer, Apple is probably going to add another sport to its lineup of sports that can be streamed on Apple TV+ next year.
