As the current COO gets ready to retire, Apple names a replacement.

Apple has revealed that there will be a significant internal change taking place in the coming months. According to the report, Jeff Williams, the company's current CEO, will retire at the end of the year and shift his attention entirely to design and health initiatives. Sabih Khan is going to take over the role. Apple stated that the design team will answer directly to CEO Tim Cook after Williams leaves.

This move is a part of a long-planned transformation, according to the corporation. Khan will assume the role of COO later this month, a few months before to Williams' retirement, to facilitate a seamless transition. This might ease investors' concerns about potential disruptions during the transfer.

In an effort to streamline its organizational structure, Microsoft has started firing managers in recent years. On a smaller scale, Apple is likewise flattening by having the design staff answer directly to Cook.

Although the public is unfamiliar with Sabih Khan, he will bring a wealth of knowledge to his position as COO. He joined the executive team as senior vice president of operations in 2019 after 30 years of service at Apple. He has been in charge of Apple's global supply chain for the past six years, concentrating on product quality, making sure everything runs smoothly, and making sure Apple's suppliers are socially conscious.

Khan was an applications development engineer and major account technical leader at GE Plastics before to joining Apple in 1995 to work in the procurement business. He graduated from Tufts University with a bachelor's degree in economics and mechanical engineering, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a master's degree in mechanical engineering.

Jeff Williams, the departing COO, has 40 years of experience in the industry and 27 years of experience at Apple. In addition to launching the Apple Watch and creating the company's health strategy, he has been instrumental in the development of Apple's supply chain. He has been in charge of the design team in recent years, but he is retiring to spend more time with his family.
