IBM announces the integration of Spyre AI chips and showcases the Power11 lineup.

IBM unveils first new Power servers for years to boost AI and security | TechRadar

IBM has released its Power11 processors and servers, which are intended to support automation, AI, and hybrid cloud applications.

According to Big Blue, when top performance is not needed, Power11 will simplify tasks and increase workload efficiency by up to 28%.

The E1180, E1150, S1124, and S1122 are high-end, mid-range, and entry-level servers that will be widely available. Power11 will also be the first IBM Power server to support the company's Spyre AI chip, which was first unveiled last year, along with IBM Power Virtual Server on IBM Cloud.

Up to 60 IBM Power11 cores and 8TB of memory are supported by the S1124, a second 4U server that provides compute, memory, and hybrid cloud options for regional and enterprise data centers. The 2U S1122 also supports up to 60 IBM Power11 cores and 4TB of memory.

According to IBM, the new servers provide twice as much performance per watt as comparable x86 servers, up to 55% more core performance than Power9, and up to 45% more capacity with higher core counts in entry and mid-range systems than Power10.

Additionally, IBM claimed that the servers are the "most resilient server in the history of the IBM Power platform" due to their 99.9999 percent uptime rate, which includes zero scheduled downtime for system maintenance and less than one minute of guaranteed ransomware threat detection with IBM Power Cyber Vault.

Tom McPherson, IBM's general manager for power systems, stated that "IBM Power11 changes the game for enterprise computing." "With innovations catered to their most urgent business demands, Power11 enables companies to accelerate into the AI future. Building on our decades-long reputation as a reliable hybrid infrastructure for critical workloads, we are utilizing the entire IBM stack to enable hybrid cloud, AI, and automation capabilities.

The IBM Spyre accelerator is anticipated to be released in Q4 2025, whereas IBM Power11 will be widely accessible on July 25, 2025.
